Detalhes bibliográficos
Resumo:Testicular Tumours are an infrequent pathology, which comprehend about 1-1.5% of all male tumours and 5% of the urological tumours. These are the most common solid tumours in Caucasian adolescents and young adults, with a maximum incidence between 20 and 45 years old. They can be divided in to major categories: Stromal Tumours and Germ Cell Tumours. The latter compose about 90-95% of all cases and will be the focus of this study. We reviewed clinical data of patients with diagnosis of Testicular Germ Cell Tumour following radical orchiectomy within the Urology Department of Hospital de Santa Maria (CHLN, EPE) between July 20th 2008 and September 21st 2014. 53 patients were included with a mean age of 32,0 ± 9,5 years old (16 to 77 years old) at the time of surgery. The high number of patients with localized disease might be associated with an increasingly early diagnosis. Most of the results were similar to those found in multicentric studies published in recent literature.
