Resumo:In this paper we check out new technological alternatives to the rice crop, Alcácer do Sal in the year 2007, due to the smaller rentability that traditional technology presents because of higher prices of production factors and manpower. Therefore, we compare two combinations of techniques applied in production linked to the preparation of soil and direct and traditional sowing. However there is an adaptation to the latter which is the use of a sower of high precision lines. Along the evolution of the crop we had as main goal the diferentiation of this two production technologies and, for that, we did a growth analysis, a productivity one (kg/ha) and finally an economic study. At the end we observed that conventional sowing contributed to superior levels relatively to emergence of field and tillering. Nevertheless in spite of panicle production is superior in direct sowing due to a smaller number of panicle per area unit, it doesn’t translate itself in a bigger final production compared to the traditional sowing. At the same time an economical analysis over the studied alternatives was performed, which the main conclusion does not justify rice production in Portugal without production helps.
