Detalhes bibliográficos
Resumo:This work presents a proposal to redesign the All about Dinosaurs exhibition, between 1998 and 2016, in the National Museum of Natural History and Science of Lisbon (MUHNAC), which is materialized in a new temporary exhibition entitled Dinosaurs in 15 Topics. The museum itself contains the historical legacy of four important institutions since the 19th century XVII – the Novitiate of the Cotovia, the College of Nobles, the Polytechnic School, and the Faculty of Sciences, always linked to teaching, science and culture. It also includes a vast representation of the history of knowledge and diversity of the heritage of the University of Lisbon. After the fire of 1978, the museum has invested in the restoration of its patrimony, in the extension of its function, in the rehabilitation of spaces, in the improvement of the routes and in the design of temporary exhibitions, turning to new audiences, besides the university. In this sense, the exhibitions on the subject of dinosaurs play an important role because of the curiosity and fascination they continue to exert among extended audiences. In this way, it was verified that the museum must always have at least one exposure in the paleontology of dinosaurs, due to the interest it arouses, but also because of the intrinsic value of the collection and the scientific contents inherent to it. The narrative of this expository proposal has a generic character: it refers to the main aspects of the theme; disseminates the updating of scientific information; explains the processes of knowledge production, as a tool for their interpretation and demystification of concepts. These aspects justify the implementation of a new project by the museum, which, belonging to the university, wants to disseminate the knowledge produced and broaden its discourse to society as a whole. To do this, it is expected to update content based on the latest scientific discoveries, the presentation of fossils from newly exploited deposits, the reuse in new contexts of pieces present in the exhibitions All about Dinosaurs and Allossaurus: a dinosaur, two continents? It should also be more visually appealing, improved accessibility in communication and the exhibition itself, in order to appeal to the interest of the visitor and integrate the new technological languages. It must respect the patrimonial values, the security and the patrimonial conservation, with a view to study, education and enjoyment
