Tratamento da ruptura de varizes esofágicas em doentes com cirrose

Resumo:The variceal bleeding in patients with cirrosis remains as a complication associated with high mortality. The efforts made to improve the treatment of this event contributed to the redction of mortality rate in the last decades. It is noteworthy the introduction of vasoactive medication, antibiotic profilaxy, endoscopic procedures (variceal ligation and schelotherapy) and TIPS. This article aims to present a review of the treatment currently used in this cases.
