Resumo:In this research we make explicit the process and time of the painting that we call "Expressive Portrait", which details visually the physiognomic sensations and emotions of the human face. The relentless pursuit of dramatic and expressive characters, leading to an equally cinematic vision, intends to state an aesthetic in which the “suspense” or thriller constitutes one of its central elements. We used as a process for the initial pictoric composition photography and film, as well as the contemporary setting of visual culture, thus creating an “idealized” image path from thematics such as drama, terror and murder, through staged compositions created to generate an expression in painting, consciously following an expressionism aesthetic. The idea that comes immediately and permeates through this research is the constant attempt to create what we called “pictorial suspense”, which combines the image with the time and the gestures in the painting, translating at the same time its conceptual dimension and the practice of portrait. The process, which we call “experience of painting”, will explore the angles of suspense in film, literature and occasionally philosophy, as means to conceptually structure this plastic practice, which is embodied in finding another way for the design and re-creation of pictorial portraits. In this sense, not only the composition but also the sharp chromatic contrasts and obsessive overlap of the spot, seek to materialize a mysterious and permanently suspicious dimension. These constitute the first impression of viewers, and eventually function as two sides which mainly affect the aesthetic experience of these works
