Júlio Dantas's Antígona: a return to Sophocles' model

Resumo:Composed in 1946 as part of the dramatic projects of the concessionaire company of the D. Maria 11 National Theatre - the Rey Colaço~Robles Monteiro company - Dantas's , Antígona highlights the political meaning underlying Sophocles' model, choosing to express it in terms of a structural pattem that draws largely from the original source. However, apart from this immediate model, there are some other familiar tones of expression inspired by the classical drama and the myth of Thebes.
