Involvement of young fashion designers in Portugal: Creative process and the relationship between fashion and activism

Resumo:Driven by society's demands and growing global concern, be it climate or social, some designers and brands in the fashion sector are adopting more conscious practices in relation to the environment and human rights. The objective of this study is to analyze the involvement of young fashion designers and their manifestations of activism in the fashion creative process. The research briefly addresses the Portuguese context and activism in fashion, followed by an exploratory investigation that uses a qualitative methodological approach. An analysis model was developed to apply the interviews. Where the participants' socialization process and the relationship they established with fashion were investigated, as well as the creative process and the relationship with the different dimensions of sustainability, to understand the positioning and involvement of designers.
