Lexico-grammar and (inter)cultural dimensions: variations of meaning in context of Portuguese language taught to Spanish speaking populations
| Resumo: | After verifying the existence of a greater quantity of studies concerning the category of semantic false friends (words that present a similarity in their form and a different meaning), we propose a teaching that also considers a category that has been neglected: the category of cognate words (the ones that present a similarity in meaning and orthography) in the teaching of Portuguese specific for Spanish speakers. Consequently, our aim is to demonstrate how a teaching of the vocabulary in different verbal contexts promote an awareness of the polysemic aspect of the lexical unit. As a result, such awareness would result in a greater development of the lexical competence and in questioning the limits not always tangible between these categories. |
