Sobre la pista de una iglesia desaparecida de la Mérida tardoantigua
| Resumo: | The discovery in 2009 of the remains of an apsidal building in Merida, on the riverbank opposite to the Roman walled city, is the starting point to reflect on the location of one of the churches or hermitages cited in the book Vitae Sanctorum Patrum Emeritensium. In this presentation we intend a historiographic and archaeological reflection about some of the Christian buildings that were standing at least in the 6th century. Among the arguments that we wield, there is the interesting set of sculptural fragments -liturgical elements or religious architecture of the Visigothic period’- rescued in this same place almost seventy years ago. |
