Resumo:This thesis explores the intersection of diaspora, liminal spaces, and saudade in contemporary cinema. Drawing on the theories of Hamid Naficy, Avtar Brah, and Robin Cohen, the study examines the representation of diasporic experiences and identities in films from different regions and contexts. Additionally, the thesis delves into the concept of saudade and its representation in Lusophone literature through the works of various authors. Through the analysis of nine selected films and works of literature, the study aims to identify patterns and tendencies in the representation of diaspora and liminal spaces in cinema and saudade in cinema and literature. Overall, the research contributes to the understanding of diaspora, liminal spaces, and saudade as crucial themes in contemporary cinema and literature.
