Detalhes bibliográficos
Resumo:Tourism is recognized as a potential driver of development, given its multiplier effect on the economy and on poverty reduction in rural areas. From this perspective, tourism planning is a requirement and a solution for successful development, because it provides a common vision, direction and commitment for tourism, as it guarantees the economic viability of tourism projects in a tourism market characterized by increasing competition. The main objective of this dissertation is to seek to understand the opinion of the local community regarding tourism potential and how to contribute to the implementation of more participatory planning that ensures the development of tourism in the municipality of Mavinga. The dissertation is organized into two main parts. After the introduction, which contextualizes the theme, presents its justification and the methodologies adopted, the first part carries out a review of the scientific literature that supports the main trends in tourism planning, its process and the need for the active involvement of local communities and other stakeholders in the development of tourist destinations. In the second part of the dissertation, the territory under study is presented, and a reflection is made on tourism in Angola, in Cuando Cubango and in Mavinga, portraying its territorial dynamics and development prospects. In this dissertation, semi-structured interviews were conducted with a small number of residents. Thirteen interviews were conducted between February 19 and April 9, 2024. Content analysis allowed us to answer the research questions, using narrative passages to convey the conclusions of the analysis of the coded and examined data. The research results demonstrate that on the path to sustainability, a strategic plan needs to bring together public authorities and stakeholders in general, including the local community, and follow a participatory process to ensure everyone's commitment to the strategy to be defined. The interviewees show that the dedication to developing tourism will bear fruit in due time and, with institutional support, the local population's sympathy for tourism and the enthusiastic efforts of tourism professionals, the municipality of Mavinga will become a reference destination in Angola. A major limitation of the research carried out was the insufficient knowledge of the territory available in the scientific literature, in addition to the difficulties of access to carry out fieldwork, which made it difficult to both conduct interviews and make it impossible to exhaustively inventory the natural and cultural resources. Despite the limitations, this dissertation has the virtue of constituting a first approach to this territory, that is, other approaches could be used with statistical data and will certainly be used in future work.
