Cooperação na Coparentalidade e Ajustamento ao Divórcio: Impacto da Modalidade de Residência, Número de Filhos e Nível Socioeconómico
| Resumo: | Theoretical framework: The number of divorces in Portugal has been increasing in the last decades, seeing as 59,5 divorces out of 100 marriages have been registered in 2021 (PORDATA, 2023). The growing number of divorces indicates that it’s a very relevant reality when we talk about the well-being of the population. Therefore, it’s important to understand in what way do divorced individuals elaborate the separation e how this crisis impact the family functioning, namely the coparenting exercise. Objectives: This study aims to explore which factors influence the psychological adjustment to divorce and the coparenting exercise. Method: 85 subjects of portuguese nationality, separated or divorced and with children from the terminated relationship, answered a Sociodemographic and Family Data Questionnaire, as well as the Portuguese versions of the Coparenting Questionnaire and the Psychological Adjustment to Separation Test – A. Results: There is a significant correlation between the children’s living arrangements and cooperation in coparenting, as well as a weak but significant correlation between the number of children and cooperation. It was also found that there is a significant correlation between the children’s living arrangement and attachment to the former spouse. The children’s living arrangement is a determinant variable when it comes to the act of coparenting, and the number of children is a relevant variable. Discussion and conclusions: It is expected that this study contributes to a better understanding of the elaboration of divorce, to interventions that promote the well-being of the overall population and the clinical practice in the parenting and divorce areas in particular. Being that this is an exploratory study, it may also direct lines of future investigations. |
