Course of nursing graduation from the perspective of the academic

Resumo:This was a qualitative, descriptive, exploratory and cross-sectional study. The objective was to identify the perception of nursing students in the 9th or 10th graduation period of the Wenceslau Braz Nursing School, in the city of Itajubá-MG, about their course. The sample consisted of 20 participants, selected trough purposive sampling method. The data were described under the Social Representations Theory (SRT), and used the Collective Subject Discourse (CSD) as a method for construction of meanings. This study was conducted under the precepts established by Resolution No. 466/2012 of the Ministry of Health and was approved by the Ethics Committee under Opinion No. 1.448.794. The results of the research allowed us to conclude that the prevalent age group of participants was between 20 and 25 years. The central ideas identified were: “Excellent course, I appreciate it well”; “Demanding and well prepared professors”; “The laboratories facilitate learning”; “Focused more on care than on management”; and “Internship and clinical teaching with few opportunities”.
