Jogar com Conteúdos Matemáticos
| Resumo: | The levels of math’s literacy of Portuguese students are being a concern to those who observe the unsatisfactory results in the national exams. The growing disregard of students to mathematics leads education professionals to rethink their practices. The present investigation arises due to one of the researchers concerns when she realizes the lack of motivation of her students on the learning of mathematics. As part of a curricular professional master’s degree in Early Childhood Education and Primary School, an exploratory investigation was made in an attempt to understand the effects of the use of games in the learning of mathematical contents. The investigation of qualitative nature took place within 15 weeks in which 6 playful sessions were presented, in a Primary School 2nd grade class with a total of 26 students. This investigation was also carried out a quantitative analysis of data collected through the dialogue of the researcher with surveys and evaluation forms. The results suggest two aspects essences, one which relates to the motivation for learning mathematics and another on the practical effects of the game in learning mathematical knowledge. |
