Environmental dimensions in a STSE Physics lesson sequence
| Resumo: | The present work presents an analysis which is based on some results from a teaching experience involving the issue of mass transportation. Such activity integrated a lesson sequence of Physics with a STSE approach (Science, Technology, Society and Environment) whose theme was ‘Transport Phenomena’. The main objective of the work is to contribute to the debate regarding the potential of scientific education in promoting citizenship education linked to environmental issues. Sixty students from a high school integrated with professional education participated in the study. The data consisted of the written productions by the students during the investigation of the presented problem. The collected data were analyzed through content analysis. The results highlighted the fact that the students considered broad dimensions of the issue in focus, giving evidence of the production of understandings that took into account several perspectives of the complex relationship between humanity and the environment. |
