ENVIRONMENTAL CITIZENSHIP IN THE PEDAGOGICAL PRACTICE OF TEACHERS OF THE 1st CYCLE OF BASIC EDUCATION IN INICIAL TRAINING: A QUALITATIVE STUDY: ENVIRONMENTAL CITIZENSHIP IN THE PEDAGOGICAL PRACTICE OF TEACHERS OF THE 1st CYCLE OF BASIC EDUCATION IN INICIAL TRAINING
| Resumo: | Environmental Citizenship is a transversal theme that favors the development of activities with diferente typologies in varius componentes of the school curriculum. Thus, and taking into account the corrent importance of issues related to the environment and its approach since early years of schooling, with the presente investigation we intended to know some pedagogical parctices of teachers of de 1st Cycle of Basic Education in initial training, in Portugal. With this objetive in mind, a qualitative study was developed to answer the following research questions: (1) what topis do teachers approach by associating them with Citizenship na Environmental Education?; (2) what types of activities do they develop with their students?; (3) what learning strategies and resources do they use in class? The corpus of analysis, consisting of 23 dissertations from master`s courses for initial teacher education completed betwen 2013 and 2021 collected from the RENATES platform, was subjected to contente analysis following a previously determined coding framework. Based on the results obtained, it was found that the topis most frequently addressed are recycling and reuse of packing, followed by water and biodiversity. The thems of global warming, rarefaction of the ozone layer, among others, appear as the least discussed. Parctical activities such as “paper and pencil” are the most frequente (82,9%), while laboratory activities with experimental nature are the least frequente (1.9%). |
