Socioeconomic and female labour participation in Ukraine and Portugal through human development indicators

Summary:Nowadays the labour market is one of the important and key objects in the internal policy of all countries in the world. In the labour market, creativity, innovation, risk-taking, planning and management are inseparable parts of business and entrepreneurship. Nowadays, there are a vast number of women, who are a valuable part of the labour market and are becoming essential participants in business and organizational activities. However, despite the abundance of various scientific publications, female paid labour market is a poorly understood phenomenon, which needs to be studied. The general purpose of this study is to describe and make female labour market in general, and in Portugal and Ukraine, in particular. At the same time, one of the purposes is to determine the factors that affect women labour market in both countries. The findings are supported by literature, gathered from different scientific researches and updated statistical data. The data used in the empirical part was collected from “The World Bank” and “Global Economy” international websites, which present statistical data for labour market all over the world. With the help of comparative analysis of some factor that have an impact on female labour market, it was possible to understand the female labour market activities and the differences in both countries. The results of the study show that Portugal and Ukraine both have developed level of female labour. Often Portugal has better results, which includes the higher level of female participation in labour market.
