The impact of foreign-led aid in the education system of Guinea-Bissau

Resumo:Guinea-Bissau is a country that has been having difficulties in its various governmental sectors of which some international actors have directed its financial Aid. This external support has stimulated an increasing access to primary Education, improving the quality of Education, and combating the high school dropout rate. The impact of foreign Aid on Education in Guinea-Bissau is a subject of much debate among scholars and policymakers. This work studies the impact of these supports on the educational system of Guinea-Bissau over the years. It started from research of the following topics: the concept of financial Aid and how it evolved; the main challenges and obstacles to be faced about the educational system of Guinea-Bissau; the financial support that has been allocated to it. And finally, the consequent affects on support, more specifically in Education. Given the specificities and spatiotemporal factors, this work elaborated following the qualitative method. As this research seeks to analyse the complexities and nuances of foreign Aid, exploring its potential benefits, challenges and unintended consequences. By conducting an in-depth analysis of the literature, case studies, and empirical evidence, this dissertation aims to comprehensively understand the multifaceted nature of foreign Aid in the Education system of Guinea-Bissau.
