Resumo:What will be the role of an architect during the ‘fourth industrial revolution’? To answer to that question it’s needed to understand the technological advances that we are going through. The use of digital tools in architecture are changing the process of thinking and doing. The digital fabrication process CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/ Computer Aided Manufacturing) aided by CNC machines (Computer Numerically Controlled) and 3D Printing, are giving the consumers the possibility to adapt products to their needs. The digital revolution that we are living is contributing to a bigger customization, efciency, economy, flexibility, adaptability of experimentation process and the materialization of architectonic solutions. Digital fabrication is drawing the way to XXI century. Inthe past two centuries we have been through three industrial revolutions, each have shaped the way we produce our things. In summary, before the industrialization, we would request for a craftsman: resulting in a long manufacturing process where the fnal customer would get a custom product adapted to its needs, but with high fnal values. To combat that high value, during the second industrial revolution Henry Ford introduced the mass production process: where standardization and the assembly line gave us the possibility to produce in big quantities with low fnal prices. However this low values are only possible by discarding the possibility of customization. With the third industrial revolution and the increasing advances in High Tech technologies, CNC machines, Internet and others, we now have the possibility to create new production and construction systems, that gives the fnal customer the possibility to get highly levels of customization and with lower prices of production – Mass Customization. Given that this work explores the advanced tools to contribute to the parameterization process of the Wikihouse System.
