Avaliação do ciúme romântico: Estudo psicométrico da Escala Multidimensional de Ciúme para a população portuguesa

Resumo:	Objetivo: A presença do ciúme nos relacionamentos amorosos é uma realidade atemporal, embora a sua compreensão se encontre ainda distante. Pfeiffer e Wong (1989) propõem uma visão do ciúme enquanto um constructo multidimensional, composto pelos domínios cognitivo, emocional e comportamental, criando a Multidimensional Jealousy Scale. Deste modo, a presente investigação pretende adaptar e validar a referida escala para a população portuguesa. Método: No estudo participaram 1169 participantes, 474 do sexo masculino e 695 do sexo feminino, com idade superior a 18 anos. Conjuntamente com a Escala Multidimensional de Ciúme, aplicou-se um questionário sociodemográfico, com o intuito de caracterizar os participantes do estudo. Resultados: Os valores de alpha de Cronbach registados foram de 0,86 no fator do ciúme emocional, 0,92 no fator do ciúme cognitivo e 0,90 no fator do ciúme comportamental. Por seu lado, o alpha de Cronbach da escala total na versão portuguesa é de 0,86. Conclusões: A escala revela boas características psicométricas, com uma estrutura fatorial composta por três fatores. ------ ABSTRACT ------ Aim: The presence of jealousy in romantic relationships is a timeless reality, but it is underexplored. Pfeiffer and Wong (1989) propose a view of jealousy as a multidimensional construct, compounding cognitive, emotional and behavioural domains. The authors created the Multidimensional Jealousy Scale. This research aimed at adapting and validating the scale for the Portuguese population. Method: 1169 participants took part in the study, 474 male and 695 female, over 18 years. Together with the Multidimensional Jealousy Scale a socio-demographic questionnaire was applied, in order to characterize the study’s participants. Results: The Cronbach's alpha values registered were 0.87 regarding emotional jealousy; 0.92 for cognitive jealousy; and 0.90 concerning behavioural jealousy. The Cronbach's alpha for the total scale (Portuguese version) was 0.86. Conclusion: The scale showed good psychometric characteristics, with a factorial structure composed of three factors.
