The dark side of personality and the bright side of behaviors. Can our personal values be in this relation?

Resumo:The present research aims to understand (1) the effect of two personality variables (aversive personality traits and personal values) on self-perceived performance of organizational citizenship behaviors and also to question (2) whether personal values can have a mediation / moderation effect in the relation between this type of traits and the organizational citizenship behaviors. Regarding our first question, concerning the dimensions of personality traits, only narcissism has a significant and negative effect on the relationship with organizational citizenship behaviors and both of the dimensions of personal values, openness to change and self-transcendence, have a positive and significant effect on the relationship with organizational citizenship behaviors. Regarding our second question, it was not possible to prove any moderation / mediation effect of personal values in the relationship between dark triad dimensions and organizational citizenship behaviors.
