Eu vou mas volto, diferente! – (Re)visualização e legitimação da cabo-verdianidade numa viagem a Cabo Verde
| Resumo: | The implementation of democracy in Portugal, after April 25th of 1974, also defines a period during which several organizations and humanitarian associations, specially non-governmental, had a very important role in the fight for citizenship rights and equality of certain communities and minoritarian social groups. Along 35 years questions of race, ethnicity, migration, gender and identity, initially seen as second plan inequalities, gained visibility and raised to a political hierarchy that always had the priority of diluting social-economic inequalities. The activity of Associação Cultural Moinho da Juventude, based in Bairro do Alto da Cova da Moura and founded in June 9th 1987 is an example of this long and transformer process. Nowadays, showing the difference in Bairro do Alto da Cova da Moura (Kova M) is also a way of exposing the pride of being cape verdian. And this attitude is the result of the association and its mentor's action. The music, for its performative nature is particularly appropriate to the difference exposure. Therefore, this statement tries to show, through an investigation at Kova M about Kola San Jon performative pratice, as the behavior around music definitely constitute the paradigm of a legitimation of diference process. The polysemic nature of this performance that incorporates music, dance, voice and artifacts shows the power of this musical and ritual process. Viagem a Cabo Verde (Cape Verde travel) is the name of the video presentation, constructed as memory of an itinerary the investigator followed from Amadora to Cape Verde. In this route, back in 2008, the visualization of places constructed validations and the certainty that I go, but I come back different! |
