A Eficiência energética em obra moderna. Requalificação bioclimática do Bairro das Caixas da Marinha Grande
| Resumo: | Discussion of climate change is imperative. We are living in decisive moment for the human species. If we do not act drastically and urgently, it will become more difficult for human beings to adapt to the devastating effects of global warming. In Portugal, extreme weather events potentiated by climate change have caused the death of the vulnerable population due to the poor energy performance of their homes. This poverty is present in the housing buildings of the Architecture of the Modern Movement. The aim of this dissertation is to renovate a "modern" residential complex, "Bairro das Caixas da Marinha Grande" (BCMG), committed to the present, preserving its identity - metamorphosis. To balance the drawing of the bioclimate architecture strategies with the ones to the building to requalify, always aiming for the occupant's thermal comfort. We intend to demonstrate that, to achieve the efficacy of requalifying a bioclimate "modern" building, several fields need to be discussed: to evaluate the social, architectural and geographic characteristics of the study object, according to the "modern" and bioclimate practice of architecture. Experimentally, this project intends to offer future pedagogic strategies in bioclimate renovations in "modern" buildings, or others. Also, it seeks to contribute to the reflection on inclusion of bioclimate regimes and strategies in rehabilitation of the Architecture of the Modern Movement. Being able to preserve the "modern" architecture identity and create a bioclimate architecture only brings advantages to the population: maintaining architectural heritage, reducing a building's ecological footprint, improving quality of life and lowering costs associated with thermal comfort. |
