"A Casa dos Marinhas" arquitectura moderna e tradição portuguesa no obra de Viana de Limas
| Resumo: | One hill in the landscape, a plan for a home, the willingness for continuing the tradition according to the conceptual principles of the Modern Movement architecture are the ingredients which allowed, in 1954, the architect Viana de Lima to design "Casa das Marinhas" located in Esposende. As an object of study, this work is the example of how Viana de Lima, during his career as an architect, incorporate in his projects the traditions, techniques and local materials; its the result of the lingering influence from the international architecture of the architect Le Corbusier; it is also the result of an architectural development with the purpose of an architecture with principles and modern aesthetics more sensitive to the popular Portuguese tradition. The combination of principles from the rationalism and mechanistic era, of the Modern Movement, with an architecture sensitive to "History lessons" and the local tradition is felt both nationally and internationally. Besides the change in the ideological foundations that supported the architecture of the Modern Movement, the influence of Le Corbusier architecture, especially his projects from the 30's, allows us to understand that the nurturing of this type of architecture projecting, is not only related to the use of local materials and techniques, but with a clear understanding of the true function of architecture. The design of "Casa das Marinhas", at that time and in that place can be directly related with a way of projecting which interprets local traditions under the ideological foundations of the Modern Movement. |
