Objetos de culto, vestimentas e livros oferecidos por D. Manuel I a igrejas da Ordem de Cristo
| Resumo: | The Livro em que som assentadas as vistimentas joyas e ornamentos que ho ducque Dom Manuell governador da Hordem de Jhesu Christo emviou pera as igrejas da dicta Hordem was written between 1489 and 1494 and records the donations that Don Manuel, governor of the Order of Christ and Duke of Beja, sent to some churches of the Order. Donations to 20 churches of this Order have been registered in this book. The objects donated are, above all, liturgical objects and vestments necessary for worship, but also various altarpieces and books. Rich textiles, such as apricots and velvet, and noble metals, such as gold and silver, reveal the precious gift Don Manuel had made to the churches of the Order of Christ. |
