Perceptions and practices of Open Science in higher education
| Resumo: | This research aimed to develop a questionnaire to assess the understanding and application of open science principles among three groups at a higher education institution in Portugal (Universidade Aberta): doctoral students, faculty members, and research staff. An exploratory approach was employed in the development of the assessment instrument, which focused on adapting and integrating questionnaires identified in a literature review, using databases such as Scopus, university data repositories, and Google Scholar. The questionnaire covered three dimensions: conceptual familiarity, implementation practices, and perceptions of open science. Preliminary results point to a gap between declared knowledge and the effective implementation of open science in academic practices. Barriers such as infrastructure and restricted data access reinforce the need for training policies and structural incentives. This study contributes to the mapping of perceptions and practices, providing support for the development of institutional policies and educational strategies that promote a culture of openness, collaboration, and scientific reproducibility in higher education. |
