Ver documento

Detalhes bibliográficos
Resumo:This research highlights corporate scandals and their connection with corporate governance. Bibliometric and scientometric analyses provide insights into the trends and patterns in the literature on the subject, which was previously lacking in focus and investigation. The article emphasizes an exhaustive review of the literature on the corporate scandal phenomenon through the approach used, contributing to the ongoing academic discourse. Our research employs bibliometric and scientometric methodologies to delve into the principles governing research objects. We analyze that by leveraging Bradford's, Zipf's, and Lotka's laws, network approach, and social structure analyses. Utilizing Bibliometrix software and Scopus/Web of Science databases, we underwent an exhaustive analysis of words/keywords, network approach, and social structure and collected relevant documents over a 20-year period. Metadata evaluation of the 794 articles by the 500 sources produced a dataset for in-depth bibliometric and scientometric analyses. The main findings were hot topics for discussion, including transparency, board of directors, and governance, while governance in sports, legitimacy, investigations involving Indian companies, corruption, fraud, and firm reputation are trending topics. Key contributors include the Journal of Business Ethics, Corporate Governance: An International Review, and Corporate Governance (Bingley). Also, authors such as Agrawal A., Chhaochharia V., and Rezaee Z. Thematic networks highlight governance and regulatory areas, with notable concerns in corruption and earnings management. Collaboration structures are predominantly non-collaborative. We integrated bibliometric and scientometric analyses to explore corporate governance and scandals comprehensively. Leveraging methodologies and tools like Bibliometrix provides nuanced insights into identifying key journals, authors, and themes and offers valuable guidance for future research directions.
