Modeling and simulation for production improvement

Resumo:The main aim of this paper is to describe a developed computer application to simulate the production system of a company located in Castelo Branco-Portugal. Simulation is used to help to fulfill the necessities of the enterprise in what concerns to its constant optimization and its need to improve its performance during production. It also helps on finding and study potential problems such as the case of bottleneck lines, before they can real happen. This application allows the implementation of changes in the model, to transform the production system and to stimulate the new system in order to check out if this brings more advantages than the one already installed. The application also allows to simulate the production of a certain number of pieces and to calculate the period of time involved in its production, as well.
