HabitaLab: A Tool For Analyzing Habitability Metrics In Urban Contexts
| Resumo: | Liveability is a concept associated with the improvement and classification of the spatial, social, and economic conditions of the population, and is widely recognized as a key fator in contemporary urban planning. The main objective of this paper is to present a tool entitled “HabitaLab”, developed to evaluate and quantify urban liveability indices by integrating spatial structure parameters and socioeconomic data, supported by computational design. The methodology was divided into four stages: a literature review; selection of indicators and data collection; computational modelling and parametric simulations; and finally, statistical analysis. For the purposes of this research, a set of twenty-seven neighborhoods from the municipality of <omitted for review> was adopted as the empirical object. The results highlight, on one hand, that analyzing the relationship between urban form and socioeconomic factors can provide insights for the development of public policies and urban strategies, by offering guidelines that help identify the specific needs of each locality. On the other hand, the study emphasizes the potential of computational tools—particularly HabitaLab, as presented in this article—in exploring dynamic methods for urban analysis and interpretation, contributing to the ongoing discussion on liveability in the context of urban planning. |
