Resumo:In this study we analyze relevant aspects of everyday life and some episodes of family history of Gabriella Asinari di San Marzano who married in Turin in 1789, with the Portuguese Ambassador, Dom Rodrigo de Sousa Coutinho. D. Gabriella was an enlightened and sensitive woman, a descendant of one of the best aristocratic families of Piedmont and she also played an important role in their family circle and in the social and political sphere, both in Piedmont and Portugal, in the transition from the eighteenth century to century XIX. After the French Revolution and the political changes that have shaken Europe, her letters reveal circumstantial information and important critical reflections on current political events.
