Agriculture, corporative State and economic coordination in the origins of salazarism: the National Board of Fruits, 1931‘1939

Resumo:This article focuses on the issue of corporative economic coordination in the context of Estado Novo’s regime. Our scope is to understand the historical and political context that shaped the corporative doctrine and the problematics of this issue will be carried out through the analysis of a specific institution “ the Junta Nacional das Frutas (National Board of Fruits). This way, we study the effects of corporatism in the agrarian politics of the Portuguese fascism in his beginning and the logic behind the application of these principals in Portugal.
