Resumo:This chapter starts by reviewing worrying warming patterns that have been recently worsen by positive feedback vicious cycles. They suggest that global warming will be faster than projected in the recent IPCC special report. The deep adaptation agenda is mentioned on it. Some studies concerning the social impacts of heatwaves, considered to be the most important and dangerous hazard related to the current climate emergency, combined with the UHI are reviewed. An outline of the book is also included.
