Productivity data digitalization and integration in plant management software
| Resumo: | Technological evolution has always been one of the main factors in the transformation and evolutional of industrial performance. Technological advances allow organizations to implement new strategies aimed at improving performance of those organizations. Within these strategies, digitalization has played a prominent role in manufacturing companies in recent years. Digitalization allows real-time monitoring of key performance indicators (KPIs) in any organization. Another key factor contributing to improvements in industrial performance are KPIs. Analysing these indicators allow data-driven decisions, enabling organizations to be better prepared when defining areas of improvement, possible investments, and future strategies. This project, developed at Bosch Car Multimedia Portugal focuses itself in digitalization and integration of productivity data regarding final assembly production lines, and integrating them into the plant management software used by the company by developing a dashboard containing KPIs relevant to the subject such as Productivity and Efficiency. Employing the action research methodology, a detailed analysis of the methods used by the company was carried out in order to understand and improve how the company measured and calculated productivity KPIs and how they were displayed to necessary personnel. After this, criteria was defined as well as requirements to integrate this information within the internal software and develop the dashboard. Once the project development was complete, a quantitative and qualitative analysis of the obtained results was conducted. The highlighted points were the ease and speed of access to information, enabling users to better and more quickly respond to anomalies or unexpected results, which in turn help improving the company’s performance. |
