Successful aging: impact of a non-formal education experience

Resumo:Non-formal education has been presented as a powerful tool in promoting successful aging. This study aims to explore whether non-formal education effectively contributes to successful aging and identify the dimensions that contribute most to promoting this process. Based on a qualitative interpretative hermeneutic methodology, the perceptions of 28 participants in a non-formal educational approach lasting 12 months were analyzed. The results indicate that, in the participants’ perception, the experience was very positive, highlighting the most impactful benefits as an increase in positive emotions and subjective well-being, revitalization of social interaction and optimization of free time, satisfaction in learning, and the positive impact of learning on everyday life.
