Measurement of the human anterior corneal profile using laser triangulation
| Resumo: | The cornea, besides of protecting the iris and the lens, has the function of focusing images on the retina. Thus, the knowledge of its topography has numerous applications, e.g. in the field of refractive surgery where the detailed knowledge of its form is decisive. In addition, it has applications for the use of contact lenses and in the diagnosis and treatment of degenerative pathologies such as keratoconus, among others. In this work, the experimental results of the measurement of the profile of the anterior aspect of the cornea using a projection system that takes into account the safety regulations for lighting in human eyes, which allows to make a total sweep over it and two cameras that make up the capture system, are present. The reconstruction of the surface is obtained using the technique of laser triangulation and digital image processing. |
