Resumo:Sustainable construction seeks to fulfil sustainable development?s objectives, which are: to preserve regional cultural identity; minimize energy consumption; protect and preserve resources; use eco-friendly and efficient materials; maintain a healthy and comfortable indoor environment; and reduce the costs of the life cycle of the building. This paper seeks to present the work developed to assess and optimize the sustainability of a service building in Lisbon with the application of a sustainability assessment tool, SBtoolPT-S. Firstly, the results obtained in each of the categories and indicators are analysed and presented, showing the strengths and weaknesses of the building. Secondly, the proposed solutions that lead towards an increasement of the sustainability level of the assessed building are introduced, showing that with a small amount of investment it is possible to achieve high performance in this type of buildings and have a high profit along the life cycle of the building.
