A new electromagnetic actuated fabric feeding system for sewing machines

Resumo:This paper highlights the design of a new presser foot actuation set-up based on a proportional force solenoid. The presser foot displacement and compression force waveforms as well as the differences between the actual obtained stitch density and the one established with nominal machine settings, also outlined in this paper, indicate that a desired presser foot dynamic behaviour has been achieved for all tested machine speeds. A FFT analysis carried out on the obtained waveforms will be discussed as a technique that is expected to be adequate for on-line monitoring of the feeding system.
