Detalhes bibliográficos
Resumo:The aim of this work is the synthesis of a substituted heterocycle, namely a benzothiazole, using simple experimental techniques and commercially available reagents. The synthesis of this compound involves the synthesis of an imine by nucleophilic substitution of an amine with an aldehyde and intramolecular oxidative cyclization to the thiazole. Several experimental techniques will be considered such as thin layer chromatograpy (TLC), vacuum filtration, liquid-liquid extraction, and column chromatography on silica gel. The determination of the structure of the compound synthesized will be also performed through 1H NMR spectroscopy. The duration of the experiment will be 1 session for the preparation of 2-(5’-phenylthien-2’-yl)benzothiazole. The difficulty level of this experiment is low and the level of study is fundamental.
