Detalhes bibliográficos
Resumo:This report addresses the presence of Multilevel Governance in the multifaceted Rural Development, focusing on the areas of agriculture, environment, biodiversity and sustainability. The main objective is to understand how effective this type of EU governance is in Rural Development, especially at the local level. The Braga Pedagogical Farm, where an internship was conducted, is analysed as a case study. It also aims to understand how the Farm contributes to the operationalisation of the Rural Development objectives of the Municipality. This case study is analysed using the theoretical approach of Multilevel Governance. The analysis is based on using qualitative methods such as document analysis of primary and secondary sources and semi-structured interviews with key stakeholders who deal with these issues daily. The results show that although Multilevel Governance is effective in defining aligned objectives, common frameworks and strategic funding mechanisms, its effectiveness at the local level still faces challenges, and that the Farm is a noteworthy example of how local initiatives can contribute to operationalising the Rural Development objectives, aligning with the European Union and promoting sustainable development, environmental education and the valorisation of local resources.
