Ruminations on the effect of MeV Si8+ and Ag8+ ion irradiation on nonlinear optical l-valinium picrate single crystals

Resumo:Organic nonlinear optical crystals of l-Valinium picrate was subjected to 100 MeV Ag ions and 50 MeV Si ions. A drastic increase in the dielectric constant is seen due to irradiation. The UV-Vis spectra of the pristine and irradiated samples were recorded and quantified. There is a decrease in optical bandgap. The observed results are discussed in detail.
