A comprehensive review on Washingtonia plant biomass fiber in insulating materials

Ver documento

Detalhes bibliográficos
Resumo:The primary causes of global warming include human activities such as burning fossil fuels, deforestation, and certain agricultural practices that release greenhouse gases. To address this issue, a shift towards clean energy sources, improved energy efficiency, and sustainable land use practices is necessary. Natural fiber insulation offers several benefits, including superior thermal and acoustic performance, fire resistance, and ease of installation, making it a sustainable and environmentally responsible alternative to conventional insulation materials. The use of natural fiber insulation, such as Washingtonia plant, has gained traction in sustainable building practices. Nonetheless, few researches have looked into Washingtonia plants as potential insulators. This review highlights the physical, thermal, and mechanical properties of insulating materials based on Washingtonia plant fibres, as well as their application.
