The impact of leadership on followers´ attitude towards corporate social responsibility: an empirical exmination

Resumo:This paper investigatesthe field of Corporate Social Responsibility(CSR). As existing litera-ture merely focuseson the macro-perspective of CSR, this paper examines the relationship be-tween leadership and followers’ attitude towards CSR to derive practical implications for or-ganizations that seek to invest into CSR. Results show that regardless of companies’ positionsin sustainability rankings, servant and ethical leaders have a significant positive effect on fol-lowers’ attitude towards CSR, while there is no significant impact of transformational leader-ship. Therefore, firms that want to invest into CSRshould focus on fostering sensitivity towards sustainability and employing people with servant and ethical characteristics.
