Beyond events: developing an event ranking framework based on tourist mobility
| Resumo: | This research introduces a data-driven framework for evaluating and ranking the diverse impacts of events across eight dimensions. Leveraging telecommunications data containing information on foreign event tourists’ movement through Portugal, the framework is tested to derive impacts of six events occurring in 2023. The findings inform how events can be strategically used to achieve a variety of objectives and underscore how data analysis can inform event subsidization and event portfolio management decisions. This study notably advances the fields of event impact assessment, tourism movement, and event portfolio management by pioneering the application of tourism mobility data for event impact analysis. |
