Comparative analysis of selected circular Economy business practices in Portugal and Germany
| Resumo: | This study conducts a comparative analysis of circular economy practices in Portugal and Germany, examining waste management and business model innovations. Employing a mixed methods approach combining a systematic literature review, expert interviews, and a survey, it reveals distinct maturity levels across countries. Germany demonstrates superior performance, with 68% municipal recycling, compared to Portugal’s 30.4%, and circular material use of 13.9%, compared to 2.8%. Both countries achieved absolute decoupling of economic growth from material consumption. Servitization and sharing models remain nascent. Findings provide evidence-based insights for businesses and policymakers, facilitating circular economy transitions across different development stages |
