Resumo:Are US pharmaceutical companies with higher levels of M&A experience better performers than those more dependent on R&D? Innovation can be internally developed or acquired, but at what cost are managers willing to gain new capabilities? By internally developing innovation managers avoid the dangers of premiums and integration. When acquiring innovation, synergies can be manifested in different ways, but not always profitably. M& Awaves during the 20thcentury show its importance as a strategy for modern companies. This paper willme a sure over a ten-year period, through KPI’s, whether companies who purchase innovation using M&A strategies out perform those internally developing innovation.
