Business Intelligence approach for NBA player & coach performance improvement: Introduction of Smart tools inside NBA environment
| Resumo: | The National Basket Association (NBA) is considered the premier professional basketball league in the world and is seen today as one of the greatest attractions alongside the NHL or the NFL, due to its great shows and players. This research project will contribute to the theory and practice by establishing the added value that Business Intelligence tools can provide, as well as the positive impact it can have on a player, coach, and consequently on a team's decisions and future results. First, a literature review will be conducted to understand how reputation and status can impact a player’s environment; how statistics are an important asset in the evaluation of player´s performance; and also, in the identification of over-paid and underpaid players. Thereafter, Power BI software will be used to develop reports and dashboards. The main goal is that, both players and coaches, can improve their ability to interpret and analyze their own performances. In the end, they are not only adding value to their teams (through this smart tool), but they are also creating an environment where the teams are one step closer in what is the definition of a smart team. |
