Inflating token distribution: manipulating cooperation in public goods games
| Resumo: | This study investigates how manipulating perceptions of altruism affects cooperation in Public Goods Games (PGGs). We introduce an experimental variation by inflating token distributions when contributions fall below a threshold, aiming to sustain altruism and induce cooperation. Sixty university students participated in sessions using ClassEx. Results indicate that while average contributions in the treatment group were slightly higher than in the control group, this effect was not statistically significant. However, the manipulation's impact increased positively over successive rounds. A modest multiplier effect of 1.063 was observed, indicating a slight net increase in overall wealth. |
