Balancing profitability and sustainability: the path for traditional energy companies
| Resumo: | This thesis explores how traditional energy companies can transition to renewable energy while maintaining profitability. Through a qualitative analysis of reports, literature, case studies, and an expert interview, the study develops the Green Profit Model—a strategic framework emphasizing financial innovation, operational efficiency, and organizational transformation. Key strategies include leveraging green bonds, Power Purchase Agreements, and R&D investments while fostering a sustainability-driven corporate culture. Findings highlight that profitability and sustainability can coexist when supported by strong governance, transparent reporting, and effective policy frameworks. The study concludes with actionable recommendations for energy companies navigating the complexities of the renewable energy transition. |
