Use of Process Mining in Industry Business Case: Improving A Procurement Process
| Resumo: | Process mining is a data-driven analytical technique applied to business processes. This approach, which translates into an intersection between data science and operations management, makes it possible to obtain several business benefits such as increased revenue, reduced costs or increased operational efficiency. The aim of this thesis is to apply a process-oriented approach and demonstrate the applicability of process mining techniques to unlock business value in the procurement process of the company under study. The company operates in the manufacturing and construction sectors, relying heavily on the purchase of material to execute its projects. During this project, will be covered the definitions of process mining and its general framework (process discovery, conformance checking and process enhancement) applied to the business case. Finally, the project discusses the main challenges and conclusions drawn from analyzing the company’s process and how building this artifact can help achieve real business impact. |
