Economic growth in the United Kingdom: the impact of brexit

Ver documento

Detalhes bibliográficos
Resumo:This thesis analyses Brexit effects on UK economic growth, through the role of internal and external demand. A multiple regression model of UK economic growth was developed, using data from 1997 to 2021. Results from the estimation of the model provided evidence on Brexit’s negative impact on internal and external demand. A descriptive analysis of the components of both dimensions accompanied the model and allowed to determine the drivers, connected to Brexit, of the lower UK economic growth. Uncertainty, negative expectations, inflation and trade costs were identified as Brexit related causes of lower economic growth.
